Aside from being costly, flight cancellations can be a real pain. This page brings you up to speed with the nuts and bolts of Spirit cancellation policy and shows you how to cancel your flight and get a refund, plus more.

If you want to cancel your flight, you may qualify for a full refund under Spirit cancellation policy. The conditions under which you can claim a refund are as follows:

Flight cancellations made at least 60 days before departure qualify for a full refund.

Flight cancellations within 24 hours of booking for flights departing after 7 days or more qualify for a full refund.

Flight cancellations by Spirit Airlines qualify for a full refund.

Flight delays exceeding 2 hours qualify for a full refund.

A rescheduled flight qualifies for a full refund.

Cancelling a flight due to COVID-19 qualifies for a full refund/Reservation Credit. This applies to all Spirit flight tickets booked for travel by March 31, 2021 (now over).

Special circumstances such as death, serious illness, jury duty, etc. qualify for a full refund, subject to documentary evidence and Spirit Airlines agreeing to it.

In all other scenarios, you will be charged a cancellation fee, depending on when you cancel.

Under Spirit Airlines 24 hour cancellation policy, you are allowed to cancel any flight within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund if the flight departs at least 7 days later (i.e., after 168 hours). This policy applies to all types of fares.

Passengers who cancel their flight within 7 days of travel or more than 24 hours after purchasing their ticket will be charged a fee.
